Dana graduated in 1954 from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop where he studied with Robert Lowell and John Berryman. He has served as Distinguished Visiting Writer at universities in the US and abroad; and after 40 years of teaching at Cornell College he retired in 1994 as Professor of English and Poet-in-Residence. His work was awarded National Endowment fellowships in 1985 and 1993, the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Poetry Award in 1989, and a Pushcart Prize in 1996. He is currently the Poet Laureate of Iowa.

Antosca and Kluge Signing Books at AWP

We had a great time at the AWP Conference in New York a few months ago -- so much fun that we've just now recovered enough to tell you about it. Like many attendees we braved a harrowing wind-sheared landing upon arrival at LaGuardia, and strep throat once we got home... But it was worth it! Highlights were speeches by John Irving and Martin Amis -- and meeting many, many writers and editors.

Bound Off had a table in the book fair for the first time, and we had the pleasure of hosting a book signing by contributors Christine Boyka Kluge (Issue 2) and Nick Antosca (Issue 5).

You can purchase Nick's novel, Fires (Impetus Press), and Christine's book of prose poetry, Stirring the Mirror (Bitter Oleander Press), at the Bound Off Bookstore.

We also ran into a bunch of other Bound Off contributors, including Amelia Gray, Elizabeth Ellen (who was at the Hobart table), Cliff Garstang, Kathy Fish, Claudia Smith, and Sue O'Neill.
